Master Bedroom, blue, brown, taupe, custom upholstered bed, mirrored nighstand from Z Gallerie Drapery from high Fashion home. This is an example of Design Day project where Marker Girl Home gives the client a design plan to implement themselves.
Do you want to add prominence to the bed and make your ceiling appear higher? Outfit the wall behind your bed with floor to ceiling, wall-to-wall fabric. The floor-to-ceiling application visually extends the ceiling, while the dramatic inclusion of wall-to-wall drapery will give your bed an aesthetic boost.
There is always a place for a bench. My favorite place is in front of a bed, where it can be seating or hold clothes. Visually, I just love the way a bench anchors the bed. That same bench will work wonderfully in an entry or behind a sofa. It can also work as a coffee table, which is a bonus if you have a small space.

Create a headboard. Sheers and canopies aren’t only for four-poster beds, however. Even on the tightest budget, you can string up some unhemmed gauzy fabric to create a headboard-like backdrop behind the bed and even a little canopy above.
While designing the bedroom I built a valance to hang drapery behind with lights hanging to create a romantic feel to the teenage girl’s bedroom.
Of course, there is no actual need for a window to cover if you want to hang drapery. Drapery in itself lends an aesthetic value, so feel free to hang it behind your bed regardless of a window. It will work to ground your bed while adding loads of sensual texture.
